The upgraded facilities are needed in order to store radioactive waste in a safe and environmentally and technically sound wayuntil a permanent solution for disposal of the radioactive waste has been implemented. \n\nThe upgraded storage facilities have to live up to a series of legal requirements from Danish and international authorities before construction of the facilities can be initiated. Compliance with a number of these requirements are justified in the safety assessment (SA) for the upgraded storage facilities. \n\nDD is responsible for the SA and has allocated substantial efforts into the SA and its supporting appendices. DD is therefore seeking external input from a qualified expert partner (QEP) that will review the SA, including appendices concerning calculations of radiation exposure, optimization and safety. The main purpose of the review is for the QEP to help DD ensure that the content of the documents is technically sound and lives up to professional standards. \n\nAs an additional option, DD may also seek review of the waste acceptance criteria (WAC) for the upgraded storage facilities.
