A number of these uniformed police officers participate in riot control\n situations. The riot equipment is put into use at major demonstrations, football matches\n or major events where the police must be present in large numbers in the event of\n disturbances. In these situations, the police will change from the daily uniform to\n a one-piece suit/uniform and use the riot equipment under the suit, such as body protector,\n knee/leg protection, thigh protection and gloves. The police officers will then be\n deployed in the areas where there is, or may be, disturbances. In the areas where\n the police are deployed, there is a risk of being hit/thrown by objects such as stones,\n bottles and Molotov cocktails etc. The police can be deployed for longer periods,\n therefore it is important that the riot equipment is not too heavy to carry and that\n there is a certain level of comfort. During the riot control situations, there may\n be arrests of the people who are involved in the riot, unlawful demonstration or unlawful\n protest.
