2.1 Procedure

Titel: One Photonic Wafer Probe Station and one Photonic Assembly Station

Beskrivelse: This tender concerns DTU Nano's planned procurement of a Photonic Assembly Station\n and a Photonic Wafer Probe Station. The tender is split into to two lots – one for\n each of the two stations. Tenderers may choose to bid on one or both lots, which will\n be evaluated and awarded individually.

The assembly station is for connecting\n fibre array units (FAUs) to an optical chip. The type of connection will be edge coupling\n using waveguides loops for alignment but if necessary, the alignment can also be performed\n either using the light source on the chip (if it exists) or by using an external light\n source and connecting two FAUs, one on each side of the chip.

Thus, the\n main purpose of the machine is to do assembly and fiber attachment of photonic chips.\n The system shall support research, prototyping, process development, pilot manufacturing,\n and low-volume production activities within DTU Nano's advanced fabrication facility. \n

DTU has activities within Silicon Photonics (SiPh), Photonic Integrated\n Circuits (PICs), Optical transceivers, Laser modules, Photodetectors, Fiber-optic\n assemblies, Co-packaged optics and Quantum photonic devices which we want to support\n in the best possible way. DTU therefore intends to purchase a reconfigurable, flexible,\n versatile machine.

The purpose of the photonic wafer probe station is to\n characterise the quality of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). It should be possible\n to characterise both optical and electrical performance. For the optical characterisation,\n the main coupling in/out technique will be through grating couplers, but the equipment\n should be possible to be configured also for edge coupling to component facets in\n a grove on the wafer. In this case, different holders and fibres may be needed. The\n electrical characteristics are to be characterised both in DC as well as RF up to\n 40GHz using probe and/or probe cards.

The system shall support research,\n development, process qualification, and routine characterization activities within\n DTU Nano's advanced fabrication facility.

As part of its tender, the tenderer must submit\n an ESPD. It is not necessary for the tenderer to sign its ESPD document. However, if the tenderer is an association\n of undertakings, the ESPD document of each participant must be signed by the participant\n in question. It is not necessary for the lead bidder submitting the tender to sign\n its ESPD document. If the tenderer relies on the capabilities of other entities, an\n ESPD must be submitted for each of the entities on which it is based, and the ESPD\n document must be signed by the supporting entity.

2 Procedure

2.1 Procedure

Title: One Photonic Wafer Probe Station and one Photonic Assembly Station

Description: This tender concerns DTU Nano's planned procurement of a Photonic Assembly Station\n and a Photonic Wafer Probe Station. The tender is split into to two lots – one for\n each of the two stations. Tenderers may choose to bid on one or both lots, which will\n be evaluated and awarded individually.

The assembly station is for connecting\n fibre array units (FAUs) to an optical chip. The type of connection will be edge coupling\n using waveguides loops for alignment but if necessary, the alignment can also be performed\n either using the light source on the chip (if it exists) or by using an external light\n source and connecting two FAUs, one on each side of the chip.

Thus, the\n main purpose of the machine is to do assembly and fiber attachment of photonic chips.\n The system shall support research, prototyping, process development, pilot manufacturing,\n and low-volume production activities within DTU Nano's advanced fabrication facility. \n

DTU has activities within Silicon Photonics (SiPh), Photonic Integrated\n Circuits (PICs), Optical transceivers, Laser modules, Photodetectors, Fiber-optic\n assemblies, Co-packaged optics and Quantum photonic devices which we want to support\n in the best possible way. DTU therefore intends to purchase a reconfigurable, flexible,\n versatile machine.

The purpose of the photonic wafer probe station is to\n characterise the quality of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). It should be possible\n to characterise both optical and electrical performance. For the optical characterisation,\n the main coupling in/out technique will be through grating couplers, but the equipment\n should be possible to be configured also for edge coupling to component facets in\n a grove on the wafer. In this case, different holders and fibres may be needed. The\n electrical characteristics are to be characterised both in DC as well as RF up to\n 40GHz using probe and/or probe cards.

The system shall support research,\n development, process qualification, and routine characterization activities within\n DTU Nano's advanced fabrication facility.
