Waste management in Turkey – experiences with dual sorting and current situation on raising public awareness
The Danish Ministry of Environment and Food (MEF) and the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation (MoEU) has joined forces in a Strategic Sector Cooperation on Waste and Resource management. The main focus of the cooperation is on municipal solid waste (MSW). MoEU has decided to develop an operational action plan to be implemented after the closure of the project. This action plan will focus on how to raise public awareness at all levels of society. The present project will contribute to the action plan.
The objective of the project is to provide an updated description of the current situation in selected municipalities of dual sorting and the current situation on raising public awareness in Turkey as well as provide the basis for a comparison between Denmark and Turkey on the public awareness initiatives including differencies of the two countries on a national and local level.
